Down to the valleys of BBC in London

The once swift-flowing river of journalistic excellence

Has suddenly become a static muddy pool for breeding mosquitoes

The rays from the glorious sun

Has abruptly isolated itself from the promising cocoa tree

The angel of death was offside

Yet, the referee has allowed his goal to stand in the 90^th minute

The world is in deep shock & grief

It hurts the entire community so, so much

When a highly fertile palm tree

Is shockingly axed down by a drunkard to tap palm wine

Your bus has grinded to a premature & painful stop

While you were still on your journey to the West

Your engine has betrayed you

You spent just two scores & a year breathing

Yet, the impact of your presence on this cruel earth

Coupled with your achievements & accolades

Can indeed be felt from Mercury to Pluto

You journeyed through life on the waves of radio & television

But ended up on the lips of the world

From archaeology, through sports to zoology

You have really paid your dues in full

Africa is delighted to call you her own

The entire world is thankful to have benefitted from you

Like smoke along the path of the wind

You have been blown away painfully

You have suddenly taken a heart-piercing bow

Your curtains have been drawn down

And unfortunately, your performance on life’s stage is over
