MY BED

MY BED
How faithful and loyal have you been, Oh my bed
How motherly have you behaved
Never a comfort you cannot afford
Never a burden have you scrapped
Blessed are you incessantly
Through thick and thin have we been unitedly
Massaging me at your own expense
My pal, my bosom friend, my counsellor
The initiator of my thoughts
And the affirmer of my conclusions
The chief investor in my brain luggage
Oh my bed!
God bless thee indeed!
You’re persistently set to receive me
After my wobbling daily escapades
Constantly on time to instill discipline into my organic structure
You open your hands to me like a Gentile harlot
Whether I come in garnished with sugary-sweat
Or embellished with an aroma of lavender
You’re the slogan of ‘Accra Hearts of Oak’
The baobab in the Kalahari
And the cactus in the Gobi desert
Fuel prices have sky-rocketed in ages past
Spare parts of automobiles keep escalating in cost
Unwavering friction and bedtime torture abound
But your rate stands steadfast
Like the decisions of Robert Mugabe
God bless you, my bed
God bless you, indeed!
More than patient have you been
Enduring all my idiotic practices without bitching
The strangulating anti-aroma chemicals I soundly release
Usually accompanied by thunderous appellation
The merciless stench from my armpit
The seawater from my urinary canal
Not to even whisper the milky lagoon
That is set free from my oral cavity in my sleep at night
God bless your punctuality, my bed
God bless your boundless mercies
God bless endurance
God bless you
God bless you
God bless you, my bed indeed!!!
