Oooo BLIND ME..!!!

Oooo, BLIND ME!
You said hello to me
When I could hardly boast of a good breath
You asked my name
When I wasn’t even sure of whom I was
You preferred my company
Even though my body odour
Was in keen competition with the Korle Lagoon
You drew me closer to you
And garnished my cloudy face with endless smiles
You brought me joy
You brought me cheers
You illuminated my nights
And filled my belly
At a time when my pockets were money-resistant
You kept telling me I was handsome
Though that was strange news to my mirror
You told your sisters loads of good stuffs about me
You told your brothers how strong I was
When in actual fact, my own shadow even scares me at night
You told your parents how caring I was
When you were the one actually feeding my wallet
You even thought your puppies
How to bark my name
You called me each night
Just for me to wish you sweet dreams
You sent me pictures on whatsapp every blessed morning
Just for me to comment on your dressing for work
You took me places where I only used to see on television
You made me meet personalities I only listened to on radio
You always said I made your day
And that made me so, so happy
Times have changed
And now you’re far beyond reach
All along, I thought I had a great friend
I thought all you wanted was my friendship
Little did I know you wanted more than that
You exhibited all the signs
You gave me all the body signals
You dropped all the hints
For me to make a move
But I failed!
I failed to interpret all the signals and gestures
I failed to realize your heart was beating for me
I failed to realize you wanted me so much
I failed to know you really loved me
And now you’re far away in the arms of another man
With a ring on your finger
What was wrong with me?
How did I manage to overlook such glaring signals?
How did I fail to realize I had honey resting on my tongue?
How could I fail to grasp this rare privilege of a lifetime?
How blind could I be?
Oooooo, blind me!!!

JUST ONE MORE CHANCE

JUST ONE MORE CHANCE
You showered me with every bit of love in your heart
You went great lengths to defend me
Before your family and friends
You went against your father’s words
And even spoke harshly to your mother just for my sake
You endured all the humiliation and insults to stand by me
Despite all these, I let you down
I disappointed you
I went away with your best friend, Shaniqua
I’m back to my senses now
And I’m very sorry for the torture I put you through
Please give me a chance to make all things right again
All I need is a chance
Just one more chance!
...
You never had the privilege of sitting in a classroom to be thought
Yet, you spent all you had to put me through school
You went to the extreme of selling off your Buzanga Volvo bicycle and catapult
Just to settle for my examination fee
In the end, I met this girl in school called Lusika
And all your efforts were flushed down the WC
I failed miserably and that same girl who led me astray
Has left me for my friend, Olembe
I’m back to my senses now, dad
I know I’ve disappointed you
But please grant me a chance to make things right again
All I need is a chance
Just one more chance!!
...
Our friendship was the envy of all
We went through thick and thin together
Anytime hunger struck, you were my sole gari supplier
You were my partner-in-crime at all times
And told series of lies just to save me from punishment
You raised me up when my world was crumbling
You fought for me even when I was wrong
I had a well-paying job at the bank
And suddenly, I forget all about you
I never called you
Neither did I ever respond to your calls
My artificial friends at work have bruised my spirit badly
I’m now back to my senses
I just realized I couldn’t do without your friendship
Please offer me the chance to make things right again
All I need is a chance
Just one more chance!!!

MY SON,LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX...!!!

MY SON, LET’S TALK ABOUT SEX!!!
You appear young and extremely innocent
Without pimples
But with dimples
I always considered you a toddler
Even though you were seventeen
Current occurrences have given me a sudden change of mind
And I think it’s about time we address it as father and son
Your recent line of chat with our neighbour’s daughter
Has given me reason to suspect you
The last time, you asked when her father normally returns from work
Two days ago, u asked the same about her mother
Yesterday, you were asking when her kid sister will start school
Today, you’re asking when her auntie will return to the village
Are you Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata or Lawyer Addison?
We were watching ‘Sunset Beach’ together the other time
And you suddenly started starring at me
With great uneasiness in your eyes
When you saw people kissing and attempting to make love
I thought you were still a kid
For some time now
I have also noticed the beaming smiles on your face
Anytime commercials on condoms were being aired
You’ve started exhibiting the same signs I portrayed
When I was about your age
Your libido has already started gathering momentum
And I think it’s about time we have a talk
I am not taking chances this time
Because my father ignored the same signals when I was your age
That nearly made me a daddy at seventeen
I think it’s about time you know the facts
I think it’s about time I put it straight to you
I think it’s about time you know
How disastrous that bloody banana
Dangling between your skinny legs like Tarzan can be
I think it’s about time I talk about the most silent topic
I think I need to break the ice now
My dear son, let’s talk about sex!!!

I WAS ONCE LOVED,BUT NOW UNREMEMBERED

I WAS ONCE LOVED,BUT NOW UNREMEMBERED
We said all the 'I love you'
We graced the weather with love unlimited
You whispered my name all night
And cherished me all day
We were crazily stuck on each other
Like Siamese twins sharing a single heart
We were like the gum to the tooth
So glued and enviable
Our eyes never got sick of each other
Neither did your lips ever got tired of mine
Days have grown old
But our love has blown cold
For once I thought time makes love stronger
But for us, time has strangulated ours longer
I wish I were the same woman to you
I wish I still tickle your emotions like I used to
I wish I were the same woman
Who made you go gaga at all times
But time and tide have withered our promising love
You have suddenly forgotten my birthday
And thrown our precious anniversary dates to the dogs
I no longer feature in your dreams at night
Neither do I ring a bell on your mind by day
It’s amazing how amnesia has ravaged my memories in you
It’s amazing how I can go unnoticed in your eyes
I was once loved by you
But now,
I am unremembered
